Coach is Getting an Overhaul

In mid June, 2014 Coach announced that it would be closing 70 of their under-performing outlets. This is in light of recent developments which includes the bringing on of Stuart Vevers as their new Creative Director. Vevers plans to take the brand to a more fashionable and expensive level, focusing on high quality all leather goods.

This also means a shift in their sales strategy, going to a biannual sales promotion which is more in line with your other luxury brands like LV and Prada. There will also be a major shift in the outlets, moving the signature logo bags out and bringing in a wider variety of leather goods.

There have been mixed reviews about these changes, but overall I get a sense that this is a positive move.  Many long time Coach aficionados had grown away from Coach because of  the ubiquitous logo line and what I am hearing is that they are looking forward to returning to Coach because of the new direction.  I guess time will tell. It seems their focus will be on a more sophisticated consumer who is looking for quality rather than brand recognition.

Has Coach Gone to the Dogs?

Is there anyone out there who doesn't know Charles M. Schulz's Peanuts Gang?  I grew up on Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Lucy, Linus, Sally and Schroeder. Imagine my surprise when I learned about Coach's incorporating those iconic characters into one of their lines. The problem for us though, is that the line sold out quicker than any other line I can recall.  There isn't a hang tag or bookmark to be found. These were a limited edition, so likely we won't see them done again, and what a shame for those of us who missed the boat.

Bloody Guts Salad

If you are a Walking Dead fan, then you need this recipe.  It's easy, it's creepy and best of all it tastes good!

Ingredients

• 
  

  1 can (15 ounces) mandarin oranges

• 
  

  1/2 cup water

• 2 packages (3 ounces each) cherry gelatin

• 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling

• 
  

  3/4 cup cola

• 
  

  Directions

  
  
  1. Drain mandarin oranges, reserving juice; set fruit aside. In a large saucepan, bring mandarin orange juice and water to a boil; remove from the heat. Stir in gelatin until dissolved. Stir in pie filling and cola.
  1. Pour into a 1-1/2-qt. serving bowl. Refrigerate for 50 minutes or until slightly thickened. Fold in reserved oranges. Refrigerate 3 hours longer or until set. Yield: 8 servings.
